Richard Murray and I have been spending an afternoon a week together writing songs. I mostly write the music and Richard does the lyrics but there is some overlap. We've been writing the new Jazz Standards with an intentional upbeat message and feel. Songs of love and friendship.
The rhythm section recorded all nine tracks in one 3 hour session at the HairyLarryLand studio. I'm on acoustic guitar, Paul Moore played electric mandolin, Corey Emerson, bass, and Addison Boling, drums. Richard and I overdubbed the vocals and Ron Horton put in the trumpet parts. I added harmonica on one track after the whole album was mixed.
We did this over Christmas Break in December of 2009 and January of 2010. The whole production process, start to finish was less than 30 days.
Everyone did a great job and the finished product is more than a sum of its parts. I hope you like this album of original Jazz vocals and enjoy the two instrumentals too.
Thanks,
Hairy Larry
