Lil Sonny Boy Hisself features a world class session band including Larry Donn's rocking piano and John Shepherds amazing Blues guitar work. Luke Reed brought in the biggest set of drums I've ever seen and George Hinds played bass. I played acoustic guitar and harmonica and sang the vocals. All of the musicians sang backup.

Except for the title track the songs are all Low Down Blues. "Lil Sonny Boy Hisself", a Jump Blues, is a humorous take on a Bluesman's life on the road. All the songs are performed as hard electric Blues, Delta style with a Chicago edge.

John Shepherd wrote "Long Black Night" and Richard Murray and I cowrote "Trouble Be Gone". "In My Time Of Dying" is traditional Blues. I wrote the rest. It was so great hearing these fantastic musicians realize my ideas helping me come up with these great sounds. After you hear this CD you will have to say "Now that's the Blues."
